Nov 8 is National STEM/STEAM Day !
Every November, National STEM/STEAM Day reminds us that curiosity, creativity, and courage can change the world. For girls in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, this day is more than a hashtag, it’s an invitation to dream big, build boldly, and imagine the future you want to see.
From coding classrooms to robotics labs, girls are inventing new technologies, designing sustainable cities, and tackling challenges that matter. But the journey to representation in STEM isn’t over, and that’s why this day matters.
WeareSTEMgirls.com is all about supporting you in your mission to succeed in STEM. Women still make up less than 30% of the world’s STEM researchers. In engineering and computer science, the gap is even wider. Yet, every year, more girls are joining STEM clubs, hackathons, and communities like ours. When you do this, you are helping to rewrite what leadership in science looks like.
Meet the Makers
Here are just a few inspiring examples of girls and women breaking boundaries:
· Gitanjali Rao, a teen inventor from the U.S., developed technologies to detect lead in drinking water.
· Maya Varma, a high school innovator, created a low-cost lung function analyzer that won the Intel Science Talent Search.
5 Ways to Celebrate STEM/STEAM Day
1. Join or start a STEM club — invite friends to explore robotics, chemistry, or coding together.
2. Try a “STEM in 60 Seconds” challenge — film a quick video explaining a fun experiment or discovery.
3. Write a thank-you letter to a teacher, mentor, or woman scientist who inspires you.
4. Explore career pathways — take a virtual tour of a lab, tech company, or engineering firm.
5. Share your story online — use hashtags like #GirlsInSTEM, #weareSTEMgirls.com, or #STEMDay2025 to inspire others.
The Future Is Ours to Build
When girls have access to STEM education, mentorship, and opportunity, everyone benefits. Innovation grows. Communities strengthen. And the world becomes more inclusive, imaginative, and inspired.
This National STEM/STEAM Day, let’s celebrate every girl who’s asking questions, building something new, or daring to see herself as a scientist, coder, or creator. Because the next great idea could start with her.
Take care STEM girls and enjoy your special day!
