October? Already?

Well, here we are – it’s October and we're well into the school year.

This month I would like to share some of my favorite books for girls in STEM!
These are truly inspiring books to encourage girls to persevere in science, technology, engineering and math.

Kindergarten to Grade 3

Ada Twist, Scientist is a children’s picture book series featuring a young girl who uses science to explore her world. The stories have been praised for encouraging children, especially girls, to develop an interest in STEM.

Grades 4 to 6

Finding Wonders: Three Girls Who Changed Science is a novel that share the live of three real-life scientists all of whom were interested in science from childhood on.

Grades 7 to 8

Wonder Women: 25 innovators, Inventors, and Trailblazers Who changed History written by Sam Maggs, explores what it means to be a woman in geek culture and uses biographies to examine the lives of scientists, engineers, investors, and more.

Grades 9 to 12

Hidden Figures, also a film, is a non-fiction story that depicts the lives of four black women who, as mathematicians and engineers working at NASA, helped to send the first American astronaut into space. Written by Margot Lee Shetterly.
